

Sankar College of Pharmacy and Research organized world pneumonia day on 12 Nov 2024. On World Pneumonia Day, students gained valuable knowledge about pneumonia, a leading cause of illness and death worldwide, particularly among children and the elderly. They learned about its causes, including bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, as well as its symptoms, such as fever, difficulty breathing, and chest pain. The day highlighted the importance of preventive measures like vaccination, good hygiene practices, and proper nutrition to reduce the risk of pneumonia. Students also explored the impact of timely diagnosis and treatment, including antibiotics and supportive care, in managing the disease effectively. By participating in discussions and activities, they became more aware of the global efforts to combat pneumonia and the role they can play in promoting health awareness and prevention in their communities.
The theme selected for this year was: “Child Survival”.
