DESCRIPTION:Eminent speaker\, Dr. Shibli Jameel Ahmad\, Professor in the Department of Pharmacology\, School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research\, Jamia Hamdard- New Delhi\, delivered a guest lecture on Pharmacology of drugs affecting on Autonomic Nervous System on 02 July 2024 at Sanskar College of Pharmacy and Research\, Ghaziabad. He shared about various terminologies and basic concepts of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). The lecture was an elaborative explanation of organization of nervous system with special emphasis on ANS\, various receptors involved with their specific location and functions. He also explained neurotransmitters\, neurohumoral transimission and their pharmacological fate (Composition\, release\, functions\, and degradation). He gave in depth knowledge of sympathomimetics\, sympatholytics\, parasympathomimetics and parasympatholytics with their pharmacological actions\, indications\, contraindications and adverse effect. Along with the conceptual knowledge he also suggested books to refer for better understanding and practice. The lecture was very well received by the B.Pharm students. The information and practical insight in his deliberation will be useful for the students throughout their career.
