Sanskar College of Pharmacy & Research, Ghaziabad celebrated World Pharmacists’ Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and active participation of students and faculty members on 25th September, 2026. The celebration was organized to acknowledge the valuable contribution of pharmacists towards healthcare delivery and to create awareness regarding the responsible and rational use of medicines.
Each year welcomes a new theme to develop the showcase the pharmacist in their positive effect on health. The theme of World Pharmacists’ Day 2026 was “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Future”, with the sub-theme “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)”. The celebrations focused on promoting awareness about antimicrobial resistance, rational antimicrobial use, infection prevention and patient safety.
The event started with traditional auspicious lamp-lightening ceremony as a tribute to Maa Saraswati. This was followed by Oath taking ceremony by budding pharmacists & faculty members. Beautiful song performances by B.Pharm students gave a divine start to the World Pharmacists Day celebration.
A renowned and dynamic healthcare leader, Dr. Kishore Kumar Ahuja, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Hapur graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Dr. Ahuja is widely known for his profound dedication, humility, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to the medical profession. His tireless efforts towards improving the healthcare system in the District Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Hapur are truly commendable and inspiring. He addressed the students and faculty members and shared valuable insights regarding the role and responsibilities of pharmacists in healthcare, rational use of medicines, antimicrobial resistance and patient safety.
He mentioned that the overuse and misuse of antibiotics pose a severe danger to public health In India. He elaborated that the pharmacists can play a vital frontline role in Combating Antimicrobial Resistance by refusing to patients for dispensing the prescription-only antibiotics without a valid doctor’s prescription. They should educate the patients that self-medication with Antibiotics is not safe and also about the critical importance of completing full antibiotic course.
He shared that pharmacists are being empowered by providing advanced digital health tools to them so that they can adapt to modern medical challenges. By empowering pharmacists, healthcare systems can bridge gaps in accessibility, ensuring that safe, quality medicines and health advice reach underserved and remote populations globally. Winners of different activities were awarded by the Chief Guests Dr. Kishore Kumar Ahuja, Director- Prof. (Dr.) Babita Kumar, HODs Dr. Shabnam Ain, Dr. Anuradha Singh and event co-ordinators. They congratulated to all the winners, participants and event coordinators for making the celebration a huge success. The celebrations provided students with an opportunity to enhance their academic knowledge, communication skills, teamwork and awareness of contemporary healthcare challenges. The active participation of students in various competitions reflected their enthusiasm and commitment towards the pharmacy profession.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shabnam Ain, HOD-Pharmacy and pledge of national anthem. On this occasion, Chairperson Mrs. Manisha Gupta ji, Treasurer Mr. Kush Aggarwal and Secretary Mr. Lav Aggarwal congratulated all winner students and conveyed good wishes to all the students and faculty members for the fulfillment of their commitment towards promoting responsible pharmacy practice, patient safety and a healthier future.
